A few words from our exemplary teacher...
My name is Jenni Butler and I am a speech-language pathologist at Diversified Assessment & Therapy Services. I have been providing pediatric speech therapy services for nearly 12 years now, but this is my 6th year contracting with Wayne County Schools. I am both honored and blessed to be the featured teacher for this month. From a young age I always wanted to be a teacher. I received my Bachelor's degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Elementary Education with a minor in Specific Learning Disabilities. After teaching for two years, I returned to school at Marshal University to obtain my Master's degree in Communication Disorders. I am passionate about my job and I truly believe I have found my calling. I enjoy working in a variety of settings and with a variety of communication disorders. I am beyond blessed to be working at Kenova Elementary. There's something special about working in the school that you attended and that your children currently attend. The staff at Kenova Elementary are top notch and provide such a great support system. In addition to my work in the schools, I also provide speech services through the West Virginia Birth to Three program as well as outpatient speech therapy services. I feel this gives me a unique perspective of the transition process that many children and their families take.
In addition to working, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters, Avery and Griffyn, and my husband, Ben. I often joke that we live in a zoo because we have two dogs, two cats, and two fish. Between work and home, there's never a dull moment in my life, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
